Operation Clean Up

A positive crowd showed up to this awesome event in beautiful Laurelton.  The only way we can keep our neighborhood clean is by doing it ourselves.  Before we started we received a pep talk from some citizens who have lived here for over 30 years.  They painted a picture of just how glorious this neighborhood was back in the days.  We owe it to them to restore this gem.

If you missed yesterday's event you have four more chances to show your Laurelton Pride!

Back in September I wrote a post about the Duane Reade in Laurelton located at 23001 Merrick Blvd.  It looks like they removed the overflowing clothing drop but we should still try and work with them to have them touch up this building and repave the lot.  I encourage you to call or email them to join me in this effort.

  • Pave the parking lot.
  • Clean up the Clothing Drop.
  • Clean and paint the exterior of the building.

The Duane Reade in Laurelton located at 23001 Merrick Blvd. needs some TLC.  I did some research and found a number and email address to bring this to their attention.  The more of us that call the quicker this will get resolved.  Here is a list of renovations I suggested:
  • Pave the parking lot.
  • Clean up the Clothing Drop.
  • Clean and paint the exterior of the building.

Welcome to the Laurelton Blog. I believe that an online forum like this could fit in well with our busy lives. In the past I have been part of block associations which meant well but we always struggled with member participation. With this format we can all check in when it is convenient.

My dream is that this site can be used to bring us all together to make Laurelton the best place to live in Queens. Laurelton is a great place to live but a couple of things would make it better. Are there some great shops on Merrick that you think are noteworthy? Where can I buy fish around here? Where do I get my shoes fixed? How do I join the Garden Club? Where and when is the next community meeting?

I look forward to hearing from you.
